How to Delegate

There may be many reasons why a manager might find it difficult to delegate .It could be due to a lack of confidence in their people, not knowing how to delegate or not wishing to put an extra burden of work onto the team. The effect of this approach is to reduce the capacity of the manager to deal with higher importance/business development activities and at the same time reduce the development opportunities of both the team and the manager themselves.

Effective managers understand that that by delegating to their people they are in reality developing them which benefits both their career and their contribution to the business. Delegation is in fact people development.
